Embedded NTP servers

An essential upgrade for standard servers

As enterprises and mobile operators embrace open, white-box hardware to reduce costs and deploy advanced virtualized services, a critical gap often emerges – UTC-traceable timing. Off-the-shelf networking equipment typically lacks the precision timing necessary for time-sensitive applications. Our compact, power-efficient embedded NTP servers address this challenge by seamlessly integrating accurate timing into open compute solutions. With this plug-in technology, upgrading standard servers, switches and routers to be timing-aware has never been easier, faster or more cost-effective.

Compact, plug-in timing

Our M.2 form-factor NTP servers fit directly into existing COTS servers, making them ideal for data center and 5G open RAN architectures. They are also well-suited for third-party equipment manufacturers looking to embed precise timing into white box solutions designed for applications in telecommunications, utilities, broadcasting and more. Despite their minimal footprint, these devices combine GNSS receivers capable of accessing all four major GNSS constellations with advanced NTP server technology. What’s more, Mosaic SyncDirector™ offers sophisticated management, control and assurance capabilities to streamline operations.

Accurate and reliable NTP timing

Using GNSS as a primary timing source, our embedded NTP servers achieve accuracy within +/-100 nanoseconds of UTC. These low-power solutions are designed to support even the most demanding time-sensitive applications. For environments where GNSS signals may be unavailable, the devices feature high-end oscillators to ensure seamless switchover to holdover mode, maintaining precise NTP timing services without interruption. This combination of compact design, reliability and advanced synchronization makes our embedded NTP servers an indispensable option for modernizing network architectures.
